Congratulations to Lance Griffin on his purchase of Starbucks Jewel. We wish you the best of luck with this very talented mare, pictured above with Tom McCutcheon.


Congratulations also to Linda Wise on her purchase of NRHA Non Pro Futurity Finalist Starlenas Joy. This nice mare, pictured above, won the 2nd go of the NP Futurity, and finished tie 8/9 with Mandy McCutcheon in the finals to earn over $9,500. Thanks to agent Steve Schwartzenberger.

NRHA Futurity

Tom McCutcheon is the FEI Reserve Champion on Ruf Hearted Jac. They also were gold medallist in the CRIO Team competition. Congratulations to new owner Sarah Willeman and her Turnabout Farms on purchasing this outstanding stallion by Lil Ruf Peppy.

Mandy McCutcheon won the 2005 NRHA Non Pro Futurity on Rawhides Banjoe. She also made the finals on two other horses; Starlenas Joy, who won the first go and finished tie 8/9, and Dun It Found A Star, who finished 23.

2005 AQHA World Championship Show

Tom makes the Jr Reining Finals by marking a 221 on Tammy Beaman's stallion Major Jessie, placing 5th in the first go. In the Finals, the duo marked another 221 to place 4th overall.

2005 Congress Reining Futurity

Tom McCutcheon make the Open finals on Starbucks Sassy Sara, sired by Smart Starbuck.

Gunny Mathison made the Open finals, placing 6th, on Gunners Indian, owned by Angelo & Jan Berrettini.

2005 Fiesta In The Park

Tom McCutcheon won the Open Derby riding Major Jesse, owned by Tammy Beauman. Major Jesse is sired by Major Vaquero.

2005 NCRHA Futurity


Gunny Mathison won the Open futurity on Gunners Indian, owned by Angelo and Jan Berrettini.

Tom was 4th in the Open Futurity on Dun Its Chico, owned by Robert Stinner and Doug Vanrees.

Lil Ruf Peppy was the sire award winner for the Non Pro Futurity.

Congratulations to Steve Harris on the purchase of Lil Ruf Valentine ( Lil Ruf Peppy x Wheeling Valentine). Steve purchased this nice 3 yr old a week before the show. Steve saw his new purchase for the first time at the show, and still placed 5th in the Non Pro futurity!

Congratulations to Sarah Dawe on her purchase of Smart Great Dude. Smart Great Dude is sired Smart Starbuck,and was the 2005 NRHA Non Pro Derby Champion with Mandy McCutcheon. Special thanks goes to agent Debbie Cooper.

2005 Reining By The Bay

Congratulations to Kara Coleman on riding Paps Major Dad to the win in both Rookie classes at the Reining By The Bay Show. Her trainer, Mike Boyle, also rode Paps Major Dad to win both of the $2,000 added Open classes. This nice gelding is sired by Major Vaquero and has over $57,000 in NRHA earnings.

2005 Sagebrush Slide

Congratulations to Steve Schwartzenberger on winning the 2005 Sagebrush Slide Open Derby Co-Championship on Cowboy By Starlight (sired by Smart Starbuck) and Lil Ruf Trouble (sired by Lil Ruf Peppy). Cowboy By Starlight is owned by Crown Ranch, and Lil Ruf Trouble is owned by Roger Wiebel.

2005 NRHA Derby

At the 2005 Derby, Tom McCutcheon was 7/8 in the Open Finals on Major Jesse, owned by Tammy Beaman. He also was 10/11 on Silver N Hickory, owned by Sven Olof Johonsson.

2005 NP Derby Champions

Mandy McCutcheon won the Non Pro Derby on Smart Great Dude, sired by Smart Starbuck. Mandy also won the Non Pro Ancillary Class on Silk N Hollywood.

Congratulations to Dell Hendricks, who won the Open Derby Reserve Championship on Starbucks Sidekick, also sired by Smart Starbuck!

Congratulations also to Memorable Affair, sired by Major Vaquero and shown by Jordan Larson for owner Victoria Lambert, on winning the Reserve Open Class Championship.

2005 National Reining Breeders Classic
At the 2005 NRBC, Tom McCutcheon was the only rider to make it back to the finals on all three of this horses, earning over $47,500:

  • He was tie 10th on Major Jesse, owned by Tammy Beaman, and sired by Major Vaquero.
  • Tom also was 13th on Sparkling Major, owned by Robert Stinner and sired by Major Vaquero.
  • He was also 18th on Silver N Hickory, owned by Sven Olof Johonsson.

Associate trainer Gunny Mathison also made the Open Classic finals, riding Ruf Hearted Jac, owned by Tommy Pierce and sired by Lil Ruf Peppy, to a 15th place finish for $11,000.

Associate trainer Ben Gerst also made the Int Open Finals, riding Spring Dun It to a 10th place finish for $3,900.

Mandy McCutcheon won the first go round of the Non Pro Classic, and finished 3rd on Silk N Hollywood, earning over $20,800.

2005 Gordyville Breeders Cup
At Gordyville, Tom McCutcheon was the Reserve Open Derby Champion on Sparkling Major (Major Vaquero x Major Affair) with a 226. Sparkling Major is owned by Robert Stinner.

Tom also rode Sven Olaf Johansson's stallion, Silver N Hickory (Zan Freckles Hickory x Miss Tivio Silver) to 3rd place with a 225.

Gunny Mathison and Tom tied for 9\10 with a 221. Tom rode Major Jesse (Major Vaquero x Jesses Affair) owned by Tammy Beaman. Gunny rode Ruf Hearted Jac ( Lil Ruf Peppy x Miss Jac Of Hearts) owned by Tommy Lee Pierce.

Tom McCutcheon was 3rd in the Open NRHA on Major Jesse, owned by Robert Stinner and sired by Major Vaquero.

Tom also tied 4th/5th on Ruf Dun It, owned by Giovanni Cioli and sired by Lil Ruf Peppy. He tied with Shawn Flarida riding Ruf Night Out, sired by Lil Ruf Peppy, and owned by Jimmy Pierce.

Gunny Mathison was also an Open Futurity finalist on Smart Sara, sired by Smart Starbuck and owned by Amber Slaughenhaupt.

9 out of 25 Open finalist were sired by either Smart Starbuck, Major Vaquero or Lil Ruf Peppy, and 3 out of the top 5 in the finals were also sired by them!
