2006 NRHA Open Futurity Results

Tom McCutcheon rode Lil Ruf Gay Badger, sired by Lil Ruf Peppy and owned by MMCO Corp, to tie 7th out of 374 entries in the NRHA Open Futurity Finals, earning over $30,000.

Mandy McCutcheon was the NRHA Non Pro Futurity Reserve Champion on I Spin For Chics. She was also 3rd on SLJ Sweet N Juicy.

2006 NRHA Futurity Sale Horses

Congratulations to Mary Anne Van Degnn, and agent Marcy Ver Meer, on the purchase of Ruf N Dun It at the NRHA Futurity Prospect Sale. This nice colt, trained by Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses, was the 3rd high seller of the sale for $162,000!

2006 SWRHA Futurity

Tom McCutcheon rode Gimme Major Bucks (Smart Starbuck x Majors Serendipity) to a 222.5 to win the first go of the Open Futurity. In the finals, he tied for 3rd on Gimme Major Bucks and Lil Ruf Gay Badger, sired by Lil Ruf Peppy.

Tom's lifetime NRHA earnings are now more than $961,539!

Mandy McCutcheon won the first go and finals of the Non pro Futurity on Hollywood Mogul, and made the finals on Starbuck Dry, by Smart Starbuck. She also won the Non Pro and Novice Horse Non Pro Championships on Dun Its Deja Vu.

6 FEI World Masters Championship

Tom McCutcheon rode Smartest Chic Olena to the Reserve Championship in the Masters Final at Denver, with a score of 223. They earned $14,325 for owner Terry Owens.

2006 All American Congress

Tom McCutcheon made the finals on all three of his mounts, riding Starbucks Finest for owner Butch Redish, Starbucks Finest for Lewisville Development, and Gimme Major Bucks for Jimmy Pierce. All three of these horses are sired by Smart Starbuck!

Associate Trainer Gunny Mathison also made the finals on Spinning Affair, owned by Robert Stinner and sired by Major Vaquero.

Mandy McCutcheon finished 3rd in the Non Pro Futurity finals riding SLJ Sweet N Juicy.

2006 Mallorca Western Festival

At the Mallorca Western Festival in Spain, Tom makes the finals on two horses, placing 5th on Ruf Hearted Jac, to earn $12,594 for owner Sarah Willeman.

He also rode Silver N Hickory to 10th place to earn $5,116 for owner Sven Olof Johansson of Sweden.

Sired by Smart Starbuck out of Sara Goes Hollywood, by Hollywood Dun It, this powerful mare was a finalist at the Congress Open Futurity.

2006 USEF Reining Championships

Tom McCutcheon makes Team USA on Ruf Hearted Jac as a Reining Alternate for the 2006 World Equestrian Games this August in Germany! Ruf Hearted Jac is owned by Sarah Willeman.

Congratulations also go to Dell Hendricks who made the team on Starbucks Sidekick, who is sired by Smart Starbuck. Starbucks Sidekick is owned by Doug Adair.

2006 NRHA Derby

Tom McCutcheon makes the Open Derby finals on two horses, riding Major Jesse, owned by Tammy Beaman; and Starlights Slim, owned by Tom & Mandy McCutcheon.

Mandy McCutcheon ties herself for 2/3 in the Non Pro Derby Finals riding Rawhides Banjoe and Dun It Found A Star.

NRBC

Lil Ruf Peppy offspring push his sire earnings over the $1 Million Mark at the NRBC!

Tom McCutcheon makes the Open finals, placing 8/9 on Major Jesse, owned by Tammy Beaman; and 18/19 on Gunners Indian, owned by Angelo & Jan Berrettini.

Gunny Mathison also made the Open Finals on Starlights Slim, owned by Larry& Leslie Woods.

Mandy McCutcheon tied to win the Non Pro Championship on Rawhides Banjoe, also placing 12th in the finals on Dun It Found A Star.


Gordyville

For the forth year in row Tom McCutcheon was the Open Reserve Champion in the Breeders Cup and the Open to the World Derby. This year he rode Major Jesse (pictured above), owned by Tammy Beaman, and sired by Major Vaquero.

Gunny Mathison tied for 3\4 on Starlights Slim owned by the Big W Ranch. He tied with Dell Hendricks, tied who rode Starbucks Sidekick sired by Smart Starbuck.

Mandy McCutcheon was 4th on Starbucks Sassy Sara, sired by Smart Starbuck, in both the Breeders Cup and the Open To the World divisions.

Ben Gerst was 3rd in both Intermediate Open classes on Spring Dun It and earned money on both Topsail Starbuck and Smart Sara. And Non Pro Steve Harris was a money earner in the Intermediate Non Pro on Lil Ruf Valentine.

Tom McCutcheon was also 4th in the very tough USEF qualifier with a score of 224 on Spring Dun It. All in all, the McCutcheon group showed 11 horses at that show and 8 brought home paychecks!  A special thank you to Mary and Jody for another great show!

Loss of a true friend...

Everyone at Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses was very sad to hear of the passing of Larry Woods, who died in an car accident on March 10, 2006. Larry was a great man and a great friend, and we will all miss him greatly.

Congratulations to Sam Smith on riding Miss Brim Star to the 2006 Wimpys Little Step Open Derby Championship! This super nice mare is sired by Smart Starbuck and owned by Veronica Phillips.


2006 Denver USET Qualifier


Tom McCutcheon rode Ruf Hearted Jac to win the USET Qualifier Championship at the 2006 Denver Stock Show. Ruf Hearted Jac now has over $66,000 in NRHA earnings and is owned by Sarah Willeman.

A special thank you also goes out to assistant trainer Ben Gerst for all of his help at the Denver show.
