Congratulations to George and Jeanette Wilson on the purchase of Sparkling Major. This talented horse, sired by Major Vaquero, has earned over $60,000 with Tom McCutcheon riding.

Smart Starbuck Offspring excel at 2007 NRHA Futurity!
At the 2007 NRHA Futurity, two Smart Starbuck offspring made the Open Futurity Finals, and 3 made it back to the Non Pro Futurity Finals!

Congratulations to owner Rancho Oso Rio and rider Randy Paul on riding Silvernbluestarbuck to a 19th place finish in the finals. Tom McCutcheon also rode Hes Justa Benz to a Open Futurity slot for owner Jimmy Pierce.

In the Non Pro Futurity, congratulations to Samantha Griffin on riding Smart N Great Sstar to 4th place, and to Steve Braun on riding Show Biz Benz to 9th place. Congrats also to Carlie Thompson on riding Major Smart Buck to the Limited NP Futurity Reserve Championship, 8th in the Int Non Pro Futurity and 19th place in the Non Pro Finals.

Mandy McCutcheon won the Non Pro Futurity finals for the second year in a row on Haidachino Hollywood. She also was 6th in the Finals on Whizota, and 26th on Chexable.


Lance Griffin & Hollywood Benz win CRBC


Congratulations to Lance Griffin on riding a son of Smart Starbuck to win the CRBC Non Pro Futurity. Griffin rode Hollywood Benz to a score of 215 to win $3,000!

2007 Tulsa Classic

Tom McCutcheon rode Good Time Starbuck, owned by Steve Harris and sired by Smart Starbuck, to place 9th in the Open Futurity.

Mandy McCutcheon won the Non Pro Futurity on Haidachino Hollywood.

Big Wins at the NCRHA Futurity

Tom McCutcheon rode Chic Olena Starbuck, by Smart Starbuck, to win the NCRHA  Open Futurity Co-Championship. Congrats to Sarah Willeman, owner of  of Chic Olena Starbuck. 

Mandy McCutcheon rode Kisma Lil Ruf to the Non Pro Futurity Championship. Thank you to agent Stephan Brueg on purchasing this nice filly.

Congrats also to Lil Miss Roan Peppy, owned by Jim McCutcheon and ridden by Lindsey McCutcheon, on winning 2nd in the NP Futurity and won the Int and Ltd Non Pro Futurity.

Both Kisma Lil Ruf and Lil Miss Roan Peppy went through the Legacy Sale! Kisma Lil Ruf's full sister, Lil Ruf Kiss, is consigned to the 2007 Legacy Sale.

Clinic with Tom McCutcheon, Tim McQuay, and Scott McCutcheon a Huge Success!

The NRHyA Clinic held at McQuay Stables was a huge success.  Tom, Scott and Tim did a great job and raised over $7,000 for the NRHA Youth!  Special thanks to Mandy Kennedy, NRHA youth adviser for all her help over the weekend.

Starbucks Jazz wins Carolina Classic!

Congrats to Starbucks Jazz and Brian Bell winning the Carolina Classic with a score of 231.5! This talented stallion is sired by Smart Starbuck and is owned by Jimmy Pierce.

2007 NRHA Derby

  • Tom McCutcheon made the Open finals at the NRHA Derby on Starbucks Finest, sired by Smart Starbuck, and owned by Tom & Mandy McCutcheon.
  • Mandy McCutcheon won the Non Pro Derby Championship on I Spin For Chics and was tie 3rd on Dun It Found A Star as well as tie 6th on Dun Its Deja Vu.
  • Congrats also to Sarah Willeman on winning the Limited Non Pro Derby Reserve Championship on Gimme Major Bucks, sired by Smart Starbuck.


2007 NRBC News

  • Tom McCutcheon made the Open Classic Finals on Major Jesse and Starbucks Finest, both owned by Tom & Mandy McCutcheon.
  • Two offspring sired by Major Vaquero were in the finals- Major Jesse and Memorable Affair.   Memorable Affair, ridden by Jordan Larson, was the winner of the first ever Mare Bonus offered at the NRBC. Congratulations!
  • Two offspring sired by Smart Starbuck were also in the finals. Starbucks Jazz, placed 3rd with Brian Bell, and Starbucks Finest was 16th with Tom McCutcheon. 
  • Mandy McCutcheon won the Non Pro Classic Championship on Rawhide Banjoe and the Reserve Championship on I Spin For Chics. Mandy also made history at the NRBC as she became the first woman and non pro to surpass $1 Million in earnings!
  • Cade McCutcheon (pictured above) won the 10 & Under Short Stirrup class on Dun Being An Okie. Cade won his first trophy saddle, graciously donated by Bandalero Enterprise. We would like to thank Gerald Dees so much for his generosity!
  • Congrats to Sarah Willeman on a great show, placing 3rd and 4th on Ruf Hearted Jac and Dun It Different in the Ltd. Non Pro I.

Tom McCutcheon ties to win USEF Qualifier


Tom McCutcheon rode Sarah Willeman's gelding, Ruf Hearted Jac, to the USEF Open Qualifier Co-Championship at the 2007 Cowboy Classic in Stephenville, Texas. He tied with NRHA $2 Million rider, Tim McQuay on Dun Gotta Gun.

Mandy McCutcheon tied to win the Non Pro Derby Champion riding I Spin For Chics. She also tied herself for 4th place riding Rawhides Banjo and Dun It Found A Star.

Assistant Trainer Rhea Kosbar was the Reserve Champion in the Limited Open Derby on Pure Class Peppy, owned by Dave McFarland.

<< And Cade McCutcheon wins the Short Stirrup Youth 10 & Under reining riding Dun Being An Okie. This was a historic event, as it was the first ever NRHA approved Short Stirrup class, and Cade marked a 145.5!
