Smart Starbuck is owned by Tom and Mandy McCutcheon. With earnings of over $60,000, Smart Starbuck was a finalist every time he was shown with McCutcheon in the saddle. His first year at stud, this big stopping athlete was only bred to a couple of mares owned by Tim McQuay, Tom and some friends.

2003 marked the first year that Smart Starbuck had offspring old enough to show, and this first limited group of offspring had stellar results!

Smart Sidekick, sired by Smart Starbuck and ridden by Dell Hendricks, won both the KRHA Sunflower Slide Open Futurity and the AQHA Congress Futurity, and was 13th at the NRHA Open Futurity out of 423 entries. He also was the 2005 NRHA Derby Reserve Champion and represented Team USA at the 2006 World Equestrian Games. This talented stallion has already won over $167,000+.

Another top offspring, Smart Great Dude (Smart Starbuck x Miss Great Dude) sold for $78,000 as a yearling and $98,000 as a three year old at the Legacy Sale. Smart Great Dude was an NRHA Open Futurity Finalist, and won the 2005 NRHA Derby Non Pro Championship.

And at the 2004 NRHA Futurity, Smart Starbuck sired 3 NRHA Open Futurity Finalists-Smart Great Dude, ridden by Tom McCutcheon, A Nimble Star ridden by Todd Sommers, and Miss Brim Star ridden by Sam Smith.
He also sired 3 2005 Derby Finalists. At the 2006 NRHA Futurity, another Smart Starbuck offspring, Gimme Major Bucks was an Open Futurity Finalist, and at the 2006 SWRHA Futurity, Smart Starbuck won the Stallion Stakes Sire Championship Golf Cart. As of 11/1/07, this young sire now has offpsring earnings in excess of $562,976!
